Happy Valentines Day!

I'm champion of the fingernail biters: RE: Kate Andrews and rejecting Betty

dutchydoescoke:

Her father showed up. The man who abused her for twenty four years.

She was triggered. Badly.

Basically snapped back into the mindset she’d lived in most of her life.

And you are blaming her for freaking out on Betty?

NO

Victim blaming is never cool. It is never appropriate.

People, what you are doing, when you bitch about Kate reacting that way and how she shouldn’t have, you are victim blaming. When someone puts “Master Of The Mixed Message” for Kate to Betty on TV Tropes, they are victim blaming. When you say how Kate was stupid for going back to her dad, you are victim blaming.

And you know what that says to me? As someone who has been on the receiving end of victim blaming? It says that I should just shut up and accept that it was my fault. That it was my fault, not the person who did it. It says that Kate is at fault, not her father, who, as it is, will never get punished for it, because he is a cis, white, straight, religious man in the 1940s.

It says that Betty, who knows it’s not Kate’s fault, should hold Kate responsible for what she said.

Also, can I just point out that that TV Tropes thing? Perpetuates rape culture inso many ways.

‘Betts! We didn’t go all the way, what kind of girl do you think I am?’

‘I’m trying to figure that out.’

mcwitham:

‘Don’t. You’re better than that.’

Alright, I need to address this, even though I am sure everyone is tired of seeing me post things about this woman.

Before I start, let me just say how BRILLIANTLY written this show, Bomb Girls, is.

Now, on to Betty. I am so drawn to this character. A lot of the women on this show can be…

if i had a voice like that, i might actually believe in god…

be-confused:

Betty: Please don’t leave, I love you.
Kate: I don’t want this anymore, and I never wanted you.

Goodbye.
